The World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference.
The very first World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference was hosted by Te Runanga O Ngati Pikiao Trust in Rotorua, Aotearoa/ Zealand in 2016.
This international event was held to bring Indigenous nations together to validate our cultural norms and realities. The goal was to contribute to reducing suicide and the impacts on our Indigenous Nations. The Turamarama Declaration was signed.
The second WISPC was held in Perth, Australia in 2018.The bundle was presented to the First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba to host the 3rd Biennial Conference from Winnipeg, Manitoba.
